Redcurrants have a small flower remnant, they are about 1 cm in diameter and grow on trusses (strigs). They are generally light to dark red in colour and transparent. The sweet to tart flesh contains a number of light brown pips.

The pineberry is a white strawberry, smaller than normal strawberries. It has a fresh, tart flavour which reminds some people of pineapple – hence the name. The pineberry is not a genetic manipulation between a strawberry and a pineapple, but is in fact 100% strawberry.

A pomelo is a large citrus fruit related to the grapefruit. It can grow up to 30 cm. Pomelos are also called Chinese grapefruit.

Pomelos originally come from Thailand and Malaysia. They grow on trees that can reach a height of 15 metres. Our pomelos come from China, Vietnam, Israel, South Africa and Thailand.

Apricots are one of the larger-sized South African commercial varieties. Fruits have a red blush and orange flesh with superior eating quality.  Apricots have good storage ability and are available from mid-November.

The Hokkaido pumpkin is a small, broad, round pumpkin that is usually a bright red-orange. The flesh of this pumpkin is yellow-orange and has a nutty flavour. The skin is edible, just like that of the butternut squash.
